Mauao Reserve

 

Welcome to the Homepage of the Mauao Reserve Care Group





This care group has over seventy registered volunteers, with a core group of about ten active members.

The Care Group Leaders are Elaine and Bill Beever.


Next working Bees is Saturday September 4th 2010, 10.00am. Meet at the park rangers office (just inside the camping groud, near the surf club).

The Mauao Care Group formed in April 2007 and has held regular working bees ever since.

Work carried out by the Care Group include removing invasive weeds from the mount and replanting with native species common to the area.

The Care Group also helped keep the Mount clean with rubbish pick ups.

The Mauao Care Group was awarded a comendation for all their efforts by WeedBusters NZ.

In little over one year the Care Group has contributed over 500 hours to restore this iconic Bay of Plenty landmark.
